Khazaen Localize USD 50 million FDI in the Pharma Manufacturing Industry
Khazaen Economic City signed an investment agreement to establish an integrated pharmaceutical industrial complex costing RO20mn on Wednesday. The project will be established on an area of 20,000sqm.
The project aims to manufacture generic medicines in order to meet local demand and improve Oman’s position as a lucrative investment destination in the pharmaceutical sector. South Batinah’s Khazaen Economic City has attracted local and foreign investments in qualitative economic sectors, the value of which exceeded US$1bn from 17 countries around the world at the end of 2023. The majority of investments originate from foreign investors.
At a driving distance of just 30 minutes from both Muscat International Airport and Suwaiq Port, and approximately two hours from Sohar Port, Khazaen Economic City plays a pivotal role in bolstering the movement of goods among Omani airports and ports, besides storage of these in its facilities. This geographical positioning enables approximately 80% of Oman’s population to access the city within a mere two-hour time frame through an extensive dual road network linking it to different governorates. This advantage significantly boosts the potential of success for investor projects. Moreover, the location facilitates convenient access to roads leading to international land ports and the domestic road network. The future plan for Khazaen City incorporates establishment of integrated housing units aimed at fostering a seamless blend of living, working and entertainment aspects within the city catering to all investors. Its infrastructure has been designed to incorporate a future railway system, further strengthening its logistical ties with both land and seaports.
